Fossil Orthoceras, 350 Million yrs old found in Morocco. This is a very nice polished orthoceras plate, with a three very nice orthoceras. The largest ortho measures 135mm (5-1/2in). This is a striking black and white fossil with the matrix measuring 215 mm x 115 mm. Geisenoceras Species, Morocco
Orthoceras was an ancient mollusk that lived more than 400 million years ago. The name means straight horn, referring to the characteristic long, straight, conical shell. The preserved shell is all that remains of this ancestor of our modern-day squid.
