Description
Native American Snakeskin Lacrosse Ball 1800’s
Lacrosse, originally known as stickball, was started by the Native American Indians. The Algonquian tribe initially played the game in the St. Lawrence Valley. Soon, the game was played by other native tribes in the eastern half of North America, and around the western Great Lakes.

French Jesuit Priests in the 1630’s first saw Lacrosse played by the Native American Indians. One of them, Jean de Brébeuf, wrote about the game being played by the Huron Indians in 1636 and it was he who named the game “lacrosse”.
