Description
Gibeon Meteorite – an Nickel-Iron, fine Octahedrite meteorite fragment from Great Nambo Land, Namibia, Africa. This meteorite was discovered in 1836, although the natives had been using the iron for tools for a long time. This slice is 3.8g and measures almost an inch. The crystal structure of this meteorite provides a classic example of fine octahedrite and the Widmanstatten pattern is appreciated for its beauty both by collectors and designers of jewelry. It has been sliced and polished to show the Widmanstatten pattern.
It is displayed in a black Rikers Mount.
