Angle Plated Quartz – J03699

$50.00

This is uncommon and occurring only in the upstate region of South Carolina (Greenville, Pickens and Oconee Counties) and southern North Carolina. No one is sure how it forms but one idea is that silica is precipitated into cracks in the red clay. Eventually these cracks are filled with micro-crystalline quartz and the “plates” are often encrusted with druzy quartz. It is brittle and porous which is unlike any other form of quartz.
