Description
Campo del Cielo Meteorite is a coarse octahedrite 1A meteorite from the famous Argentina fall.
The meteorite’s age is estimated as five to six thousand years. It was reported in 1576, but was already well known to local aboriginal inhabitants whose ancestors had seen the fall. The craters and their surrounds contain many fragments of the iron meteorite with the total weight of the pieces recovered about 100 tons.
This nice specimen measures 1/4-3/8″ long and is packaged with a description of the history of the meteorite.
