Description
Meteorite pendant
Argentina
Size 1 inch long and weighing at 7 grams.
The Campo del Cielo meteorites are metal-rich space rocks that fell to Earth in northern Argentina about 4,000 to 5,000 years ago. They are mostly made of iron and nickel, with small amounts of other metals. These meteorites come from the core of a long-destroyed asteroid and show unique crystal patterns when cut and polished. First reported by Spanish explorers in the 1500s, the site where they landed is one of the largest meteorite fields ever found.
