Libyan Desert Glass is a rare yellow-green natural glass found in the Sahara Desert of Libya and Egypt. It formed about 29 million years ago when a meteor or comet impact melted the desert sand with intense heat. Made mostly of pure silica, the glass ranges from clear to deep golden in color. Ancient Egyptians valued it, and a piece of it was even found in King Tutankhamun’s tomb. Today, it is admired for its beauty and mysterious, space-related origin.
