C. 2200-1800 B.C

Sizes are between 4.5-5.5 inches tall and weighing between 7-10 oz.

A Babylonian clay foundation with cuneiform, dating from about 2200–1800 B.C., is a clay object that was buried under the foundations of important buildings, such as temples and palaces. It was inscribed with cuneiform, one of the world’s earliest writing systems, using a reed stylus pressed into wet clay. The inscription usually included the name of the king who built or repaired the structure, honored the gods, and explained the purpose of the building. These foundation objects were meant to protect the building and preserve a record of its construction. Today, they help historians learn about ancient Babylonian history, religion, and architecture.
