Libyan Desert Glass

$40.00

Libyan Desert Glass – A nice yellow translucent piece of this fascinating gem material. It was formed about 26 million years ago when a meteorite struck in the Sarara desert between Libya and Egypt. Although some people believe that it is a true meteorite (formed in outer space), it is more generally believed that it originates from rock which was struck by a meteorite and melted, and combines extraterrestrial and terrestrial properties. A scarab made from Libyan Desert Glass was found in King Tut’s tomb. This piece is 6.8g and measures 1-3/8″.

It is displayed in a black Rikers Mount.
